New. Now. CHANEL N°5 L’EAU

A new fragrance from Chanel would be news in itself, but reinventing the iconic N°5 for today’s modern woman is even more noteworthy. Olivier Polge has created N°5 L’Eau; a new classic…light, transparent, fresh and natural.

The original Chanel N°5 is a fragrance that is timeless. With N°5 L’Eau, Olivier Polge has taken the best elements of the original and has completely reinvented it. I love Chanel N°5, so I was intensely curious as to how N°5 L’Eau would smell. My impression is that it’s a winner. It’s a “cleaner” interpretation of the original, perfectly in tune with today’s woman and today’s time.

CHANEL No5 L'eau

The top notes of Chanel N°5 L’Eau are citrus: lemon, mandarin and orange; bright and uplifting. As the fragrance develops and warms, floral notes of Rose, oxygenated Jasmine and Ylang Ylang join the mix. This is where I get a callback to the original fragrance; that note of familiarity, yet…fresher. The base notes tell the rest of the story. Yes, there is a nod to the vetiver and cedars woods of the original N°5, but the addition of cottony musk notes softens the drydown. My overall impression is of a stripped down N°5; a little more raw, simpler, cleaner, yet with a brightness to it.

N°5 L'Eau

The N°5 L’Eau bottle has the same minimalist feel. Still elegant and substantial, with classic lines, the N°5 L’Eau bottle conveys a modern simplicity. On the inside, the juice is more sheer than the original, less ambery. It’s really a gorgeous effect, both inside and out. “You know me and you don’t” is the heart of the ad campaign and I think it’s so accurate. N°5 L’Eau is a totally new fragrance from the original N°5…and yet, there is a definite sense of recognition. A nod to the classic. Side by side, I’d pick N°5 L’Eau; I think it’s more in touch with today’s woman. more relatable.

Chanel N°5 L’Eau Eau de Toilette is available in two sizes: 1.7 oz. ($100) and 3.4 oz. ($132) and is currently available at Will you be picking this new classic up?

Clarins Skin Boosters

Have you ever wished that you could personalize your skincare to address only a single, or even a temporary issue? Now you can! Clarins Boosters help with occasional skincare needs caused from lifestyle (too much partying, not enough sleep) or environmental causes, like alleries or pollution. Like a turbocharge for your skin!

Whatever the cause, our skin is a good barometer for what’s going on with us. Stress, dieting, exhaustion, sun…there are a million ways our skin is affected. The answer on how to correct these issues is sometimes complicated. Clarins Boosters can help out with a shot of what you need to help fix the problem.

Clarins NEW Booster Repair

There are three Boosters: Repair, which is powered by Mimosa, helps with weakened skin. If you’ve been out in the sun, salt or chlorinated water or are getting cosmetic treatments like peels, the Repair Booster soothes and comforts and visibly minimizes redness.

Clarins NEW Booster Energy

The Energy Booster is for fatigued skin and is powered by Ginseng, which is known for it’s stimulating properties. If you’ve been dieting, experiencing stress or late nights, you might benefit from the Energy Booster. Skin loses tone and appears dull and fatigued.

Clarins NEW Booster Detox

The Detox Booster (my go-to) is for congested skin, which shows up by a loss of radiance and dull complexion. The Detox Booster is powered by Green Coffee, which is known for it’s detoxifying properties. It plumps and refreshes skin.

Clarins Boosters

The Boosters couldn’t be easier to use. Just add 3-5 drops (press the bottom of the bottle to dispense) to your moisturizer, mask, serum or foundation. Use it for a day, a week, a month – anytime your skin needs a boost. I’ve tried all three of the Boosters and at first I was skeptical, but as I used them, noticed that my skin was responding. You can’t use the Boosters as a serum; they are a complementary product; an “extra boost”.

If you like a custom approach to your skincare, something that can be used occasionally or more often, check out the Clarins Boosters! Each Booster is $39, and you can find them in department stores like Nordstrom and at Would you use a product like this?

Dining at WP24 in Downtown Los Angeles

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for most of my life and I have yet to experience all of this amazing city. It has so much to offer especially when it comes to dining. I frequent downtown L.A. about twice a week for work and I’m amazed and excited to see all the new projects being built. For those that haven’t visited downtown L.A. currently, it’s been going through a revitalization. There’s a lot more food options down here now more than ever so I like to try a new dining spot whenever I get the chance.

I was recently invited to the WP24 by Wolfgang Puck restaurant inside the JW Marriott Los Angeles which is located at LA. Live in Downtown L.A. I’ve never been inside a Wolfgang Puck restaurant so I was super excited to learn I would be visiting one of their restaurants.

I invited one of my good friends to dine with me after work. We parked inside L.A. Live’s East garage and took an elevator up to the ground level. The JW Marriott is right next to the Microsoft Center and near The Staples Center so it’s a great place to grab a meal prior to a game, concert, and event. It’s also a great dining spot for a girl’s night out or an after work celebration.

We entered the hotel and took an elevator to the 24th floor. The dining decor is very stylish and sexy while the floor-to-ceiling windows provide stunning panoramic views of Downtown Los Angeles and the surrounding city. Our table was in the main dining room which is on the east side of the restaurant. We walked by the bar, the beautiful lounge area, and the wine bar to get to our table. The dining room ambience is perfect and the views are incredible!

The restaurant offers a modern interpretation of asian cuisine. It features an a la carte menu which frequently changes due to the seasonal and local ingredients. We started off with cocktails. I had a Sangria and my friend had a virgin Lychee Martini. The drinks were made just right.

wp24 downtown lawp24 dumplings

The appetizers were next. We tried a lot of appetizers and we savored each bite. Some of my favorites included the prawn toast, spring rolls with lobster and prawns, and steamed nap buns with pork belly in a sweet bean garlic sauce. My friend loved these  as well as the beef puffs and the crispy suckling pig.

wp24 beef short ribswp24 alaskan halibut

Up next was the entrees: beef short ribs and hand roasted Alaskan halibut over spring market vegetable and sauce. The beef short ribs were very tender and tasty and the Szechuan spices was not overpowering. The halibut was so flavorful! I actually loved this more than the short ribs which is surprising to me since I’m a big meat lover.

wp24 chocolate forestwp24 the snow queen dessert

At this point, I’m stuffed. We still had dessert left and I wasn’t sure if I had room for more; however, once they brought out the dessert dishes, I made room, haha. First we tried the Chocolate Forest which is a green tea mousse with a cherry ice cream sorbet and fresh cranberries sprinkled with toffee and dark chocolate. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and tartness. The Chocolate Forest did not disappoint but the dessert I salivated over the most was the Snow Queen, which was shortcake topped with nectarines and a passion fruit sorbet. Each bite was like heaven in my mouth. The cake was so moist and the sorbet was sweet and tangy.

Overall we had a wonderful experience at the WP24. Excellent food and excellent service. The next time you’re in the Downtown LA area for a game, concert, event or just looking for a place to eat after work hours, I highly recommend you stop by the WP24.

The MAC Star Trek Collection!

Join M·A·C for an intergalactic odyssey with the release of the new Star Trek Collection! Taking beauty to a world far, far away, the Star Trek Collection is an out-of-this-world experience in colors and textures.

M·A·C X Star Trek is a perfect collaboration; the far-out looks, bright colors and iridescent textures capture the imagination. The Star Trek Collection focuses on eyes with Pressed Pigments, lips with Lipglass and Lipsticks, and even skin, with the multi-hued Trip The Light Fantastic Powder, which I plan on ordering. Studio Nail Lacquers have a frosty, metallic feel.

MAC Star Trek makeup

I was able to try several of the products, including a Lipglass in Set to Stun (silver iridescent), Pressed Pigment in Midnight and To Boldly Go, and Studio Nail Lacquer in Holla-Deck (gold iridescent). Since metallics are having a moment now, the Star Trek Collection is an excellent opportunity to wear the trend. The Lipglass and Pressed Pigments are especially good picks to maximize sparkle on eyes and lips. To proceed a little more cautiously, the Superslick Liquid Eyeliners add a touch of metallic without going overboard.

MAC Star Trek w-packaging

The M·A·C Star Trek Collection packaging commemorates the 50th anniversary of the series with special logos. For extra inspiration, M·A·C designed special Trekkie-inspired makeup looks; you can find videos and how-tos on the M·A·C website.

Overall, this is a fun and collectible limited-edition collection. You can find the M·A·C Star Trek Collection in department stores, including Nordstrom and online at May the force be with you!

Dior Skyline Fall 2016 Color Collection

This Fall’s Dior Color Collection is a seasonal ode to the autumnal colours of Paris; a beauty look made of contrasts of light and shadow. Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, drew inspiration for his Skyline collection from the Eiffel Tower, which dominates the city’s skyline and captures the imagination of the world.

The Dior Skyline Fall 2016 Color Collection includes:

Dior 5 Couleurs Palette-Skyline

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette ($63) in Parisian Sky #506 (sky blue, metallic grey, and neutral beige).

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette - Capitol of Light

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette ($63) in Capitol of Light #806 (earthy browns and bronze shades, balanced by soft pink and deep purple).

Diorblush Light & Contour Sticks

Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duo ($44) in three shades:  Soft Contour #001, Medium Contour #002 and Intense Contour #003.

Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer 001

Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder ($56) in 001.

Diorshow Brow Chalks_Fall 2016

Diorshow Brow Chalk ($30) in three shades: Blonde #001, Soft Brown #002 and Dark Brown #003.

Diorshow Proliner in Grege

Diorshow Pro Liner ($32) in Grege #062.

Dior Vernis Skyline Fall 2016 Collection

Dior Vernis ($27) in Minimal #112 and Skyline #848.

Dior Addict Lipstick_Sophisticated

Dior Addict Lipstick ($35) in Sophisticated #927.

I love the rich colors in the Dior Skyline Collection for Fall, and have several pieces on order. I couldn’t resist the Nude Air Luminizer Powder, which I missed out on from the Spring Collection (lesson learned). This shade is slightly more gold, and less pink. Dior makes the most gorgeous powders; light as air and so finely milled.

I also ordered the Dior Addict Lipstick in Sophisticated. I love the Dior Addict formula and this shade looks like it will be a great match for my skintone. I definitely want to try the Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duo, but would feel more comfortable making the shade selection in-store.

The Dior Skyline Fall Color Collection is available now in department stores including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and on Will you be indulging yourself with anything from this seasonal collection?

Top 10 Color Trends for Fall/Winter 2016-17

Pantone has revealed the top colors for fall/winter 2016-17 and I couldn’t be any more excited. The season’s color trends are anchored by earthy tones like Warm Taupe and Dusty Cedar with pops of vibrant colors like Spicy Mustard and Bodacious. A lot of these shades are definitely a departure from the more traditional fall shades.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute:

Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades. Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.

I like wearing a lot of earthy tones in the fall. I love the Dusty Cedar shade and I plan to incorporate a lot of it into my fall wardrobe. Bodacious is pretty shade as well and will make a fun color combination when paired with a neutral contrasting shade like light gray, cream or black.

For a bit of inspiration, see how these fashion bloggers incorporate the top 10 color trends for fall/winter 2016-17 into their outfits below!

Twila True expands upscale nail empire

BY Shelley Levitt

August 23 – 2016 2:16 PM

Kiehl’s customized

We’re used to having everything from our morning smoothies to our margaritas made just the way we want them. Starting next month, you can also have skin care tailored for you is easily every bit as essential to your well-being. Just stop in at the Kiehl’s store in South Coast Plaza, one of only 25 locations across the country – and the only one in Orange County – to offer the new personalized service, Apothecary Preparations.

You’ll meet one on one with a customer rep who will take you through a discussion and diagnosis of your key complexion concerns. Then, while you wait, two targeted complexes addressing issues like redness or large pores will be selected and packaged for you, along with a skin-strengthening concentrate, in a personalized box.

The complexes are too potent to apply directly to your skin, so you’ll mix all three components together at home to activate the ingredients. $95

Lip Service

There’s a new injectable filler in town, and it’s something to smile about. In June, the FDA approved Volbella for plumping lips and correcting those pesky fine lines above the mouth that doctors call perioral rhytids. The vertical wrinkles are also known as “smoker’s lines,” and you don’t have to be a nicotine fiend to develop them.

Until now perioral lines have been very difficult to treat without running the risk of inflating nearby areas. “Getting filler in etched-in lines is always a challenge,” says Laguna Niguel dermatologist Lorrie Klein. “These lines are similar to pleats, and like pleats in fabric, you can’t iron them out very easily.” Volbella is hyaluronic-acid filler like Juvéderm (both manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Allergan) or Restylane, but it’s thinner and smoother. That makes it easier to inject with precision.

Dr. Klein expects Volbella will be available in doctors’ offices starting in October.

Nailing it

Having harsh chemicals brushed on your nails hardly sounds like a pampering experience. Yet, that’s just what happens at run-of-the-mill mani-pedi shops, where strong fumes are a clear sign that something not entirely healthy is taking place.

Enter Polished Perfect by Twila True, Orange County’s luxury nail salons. A new location opened mid-August at Irvine’s Los Olivos Marketplace. Here the 40 shades of lacquer are all a “5-free formula.” That means they don’t contain a chemistry set’s worth of toluene, DBP, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and camphor. Polished Perfect’s “beauty with a conscience” practices also include skipping the whirlpool pedicure tubs (so you’re not plunging your footsies into a pool that contains a buildup of other people’s sloughed-off
cells) and giving each client her own buffer and file to prevent cross-contamination.

Between salon visits, you can shop Twila True’s online beauty boutique, which includes the lacquers, as well as body scrubs, soaks and creams.

And, by the way, the actual Twila True is a Newport Beach philanthropist and entrepreneur whose causes include improving conditions both among her own Oglala Sioux Tribe in Pine Ridge, S. D., and in China’s state-run orphanages.
